Services

I have a wealth of experience in many types of research.

These are some of the most common methodologies I am asked to provide:

  • Online Surveys

Online surveys are one of the most cost effective and efficient ways to consult, whether that be with the general public, your customers, your potential markets, your employees, or users of your services. Online surveys can be promoted widely and shared easily, providing you with an instant platform on which to consult.

Surveys can be designed to be creative and eye-catching, to be easy to complete, and to format to the device being completed on. This methodology can be quick to deploy, and results can be instantly accessed, providing you with real-time information on which to act.

  • Face to Face Interviews

Sometimes you need to talk to people face to face – either because the group you need to talk to is in a particular place (for example attending an event, or visitor attraction, or using a particular service) – or because the discussions you wish to have with them are better done in person, by a fieldworker trained to engage with people, and ensure a high level of quality and detail in the responses.

We carry out face to face interviews all over the country, including exit surveys, visitor surveys, and community surveys. We use tablets for these interviews, which makes the interview as efficient as possible, while also being more pleasant for the respondent. Data can be immediately uploaded for instant access to preliminary findings.

  • Event Evaluation

One of our main areas of expertise is in event evaluations. Face to face interviews are carried out during the event to collect information fresh from the audiences involved, via tablet, by our team of trained and experienced fieldworkers. A sample of 300 surveys is completed to ensure robust and significant results. Our event evaluations:

    • Profile event attendees and provide insight into audiences: the types of people, where they come from, who they have come with, how much they have spent, how they found out about the event, their ratings of it, and their propensity to attend future such events.
    • Assess the economic contribution of the event to the local economy, (considering direct impacts, indirect and induced impacts, deadweight, displacement, leakages and additionality) and calculates return on investment (ROI).
    • Identify areas of success, and room for improvement to build on and improve future events.
    • Satisfy the requirements of funders and supporters.
    • Justify event expenditure and resourcing.
  • Focus Groups

Focus groups are a great way of exploring information in more detail (where you are looking for qualitative, rather than quantitative information).

They are often used alongside quantitative data to provide a deeper insight, for example if you carry out a survey of your employees to assess satisfaction and retention rates, and then find you would like to explore some of the issues raised in more detail. They can be used to explore branding and marketing strategies/campaigns, to perform SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) analysis for local communities, or investigate opinions and experiences of service users, customers or clients.

We provide a full service for your focus groups, including recruitment and incentives, venue selection, interview structure and design, hosting and facilitation, analysis and report writing.

  • Project Monitoring and Evaluation

If you have a large, publicly funded project or programme of activity, you may be expected to carry out fairly extensive monitoring and evaluation as part of the conditions of grant.

We can help with this, in designing and fulfilling monitoring strategies, carrying out primary and secondary research, as well as providing an independent view of the extent to which objectives and targets have been met, in the wider context of the delivery phase, and any challenges faced within that.
